Bhimashankar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, can certainly be termed as a Pilgrim Paradise. The dense forests surrounding the high ranges also play an abode to the rare species of flora and fauna. Situated at the extreme end of the Sahayadri Ranges, this place gives a wonderful view of the world around you, the forts, the rivers and the hill stations around.


Bhimashankaris located in the village of Bhorgiri 50 km north west of Khed, near Pune. It is located 110 km away from Pune in the Ghat region of the Sahyadri hills. Bhimashankar is also the source of the Bhima river, which flows south east and merges with the Krishna river near Raichur. The other Jyotirlinga shrines in Maharashtra are Tryambakeshwar and Grishneshwar. Regular pilgrims near Mumbai visit Bhimashankar from Karjat via Khandas.


The Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary located here is a popular weekend getaway from Mumbai and Pune.

1)
reach to neral ( karjat side) by trains and then use six sitter rikshaw . rikshaw directly take you to base of the bhimaShankar.Fair of six sitter is 20 to 50 rs per head .


2)
reach to karjat by trains and then use St bus . bus directly take you to Khandas village and then you have to walk 4 to 5 hr then you will reach bhimaShankar.Distance between the karjat and khandas is about 40 km.

From pune there is direct way..
